SELF LEADERSHIP: 10 Top Qualities Of Being A Self & Business Leader

In my last post, I discussed the reasons why we must always be a leader to ourselves if we want to be successful in our businesses as well as be able to lead others, check it out here. However in this post, I will be discussing certain qualities that you must possess in order for you to ascertain a level of being perceived as a leader both to yourself as well as to other people. Here are the qualities or attributes

(1)  You must be VISIONARY: In other for you to achieve the status of leadership, you must develop the habit of having visions. What I mean by visions is the ability to visualize a plan to achieve a feat or goal that are bigger than what you have already accomplished. This is what other people call dreams, so therefore if you truly want to be perceived as a leader, you must always have a dream that is bigger than what you have already achieved or that of people that follow you. YOU MUST ALWAYS BE A RECORD BREAKER OR PACE SETTER.

(2) You must have Superior and Unshakeable ATTITUDE: You must always believe in yourself and have an indomitable attitude that never accept any form of negativity such as failure or defeat. You must always see light at the end of every tunnel, be positive and optimistic in every negative situation knowing that they are a step closer to success. I love this quote from an wise guy who stated that “your attitude to life is a product of your heart, if your heart stinks, your attitude stinks”.

(3) You must be a Decision Maker: To be a great leader, is to be a strong decision maker. Like Anthony Robbins said ” the quality of our lives is determined by the quality of the decisions that we make on a regular basis”. To live in this life is to make decisions, to be a great leader, you must be great at making hard and strong decisions, you must always believe in your gut feelings and trust your judgements, as well as commit to your decisions with actions. Remember being indecisive is more or as being a loser.

(4) You must commit to Integrity and Character: You must be a man of your words, never ever breach your promise as this cab tarnish or dent your reputation of being a powerful leader as well as being an obstacle to your success. We must always promise less and deliver more value! Integrity is a MUST for every aspiring leader. WE MUST ALWAYS MAINTAIN TRUST IN ALL WE DO!

(5) You must always commit to personal growth : to become an effective leader is to always remain relevant in all that we do especially in this our ever changing world. We must always plug ourselves in personal development in order to achieve much greater success in all our endeavours. You must learn new skill, acquire new knowledge and teach it to others. So learn and lead! There are so many things to do in this life!

(6) You must strive for excellence in all that you do: No leader settles for second best, you must always give your all and strive to be excellent in all your undertakings.

(7) You must have the highest level of persistence and determination to achieve a continual success in all your endeavours

(8) You must always admit responsibilities when things go wrong even when it is not your fault, learn from your mistakes and improve to get better.

(9) You must always put your customers, prospects or team first at all times. Remember, they look up to you.

(10) You must always lead by examples, be a role model by being in front of the pack; a pace setter!

    Hi Kenny

5 seems to separate the leaders from the followers.

I just meditated for 20 minutes, like I always do, 3 times a day. Didn’t want to do it. My mind raced, I felt restless, but I did it anyway. I know the more I go within, the more my outside world changes in a wonderful way.

More importantly, my perception of the outside world changes. I keep a high energy attitude amidst all types of situations because I make personal development A1. I learned long ago that leaders make personal development THE priority in their lives, and I decided to follow their example.

    Thanks for sharing Kenny!

      Hi Ryan,
I am with you on personal development. This is the only one thing that I also believe if anybody can plug in and commit to implement them will change the perception about everything in life. It is one thing to just read and listen, it is another to study personal development and implement it until it become the change that we want. Years back, I used to just listen to all the personal development materials by great guys like Anthony Robbins, Darren Hardy, Jim Rohn and so many others, I realized that I only got motivated but never still take action on those materials. So never got any result until I started to meditate on those principles and commit myself to implement them , just like you mentioned is the hardest thing I could ever done, now I love my progress in transformation towards my desired dream..

Thanks Ryan for sharing your wonderful thoughts… Hope to see you around soon :)

      kindest Regards,

    Hey Kenny,
#2 resonates with me the most.

Why? Because the way you choose to see this life experience determines everything. The belief in yourself shall be unconditional..an absolute trust in life that you’re guided step by step every day and everything that you need and want to achieve will be in place at the right time.
The rest of the step just fall into place when you totally believe and love yourself :)

    Thank you for sharing buddy,
    Radu

      Hey Radu,

You are absolutely spot on, Attitude is very paramount to our journey to greatness. there is a saying that “your attitude will determine your altitude in life”. So whatever we want to achieve or be in life , it’s all about our attitude which is also our ability to have faith and trust in the law of abundance as well as ourselves that we can achieve anything that we want to achieve in this life. This is one quality that separates the pacesetters and high flyers in our world today from others.
The strong and positive your attitude, the better your chance of winning”. Also, remember that your attitude either attract success or repel it”

Thanks for sharing your beautiful comment buddy, I’ve learned so much from you!

      Kindest regards,

    Hey Kenny,
This is really a good article which offers great advice on how to become a good leader personally and also for your business. The importance of personal development is something that most people like to take on a light shoulder and its really good that you have emphasized it here.

      Hey Elizabeth,

Just Like I said with Ryan Personal development is very important to achieving success in life, the more you develop yourself, the better your chance of winning. It is amazing the number of people who do not plugin to self growth and see their mind dying in negativity, pessimism and being unproductive.

I am really privelege to have embrace personal growth, like Anthony Robbins always say, ” we either growing or dying” especially our minds!

Thanks for your constant word of support and leadership, Elizabeth! Hope to see you around soon.

      Kindest regards,

    Hi, Kenny,

Number 2 resonates most with me. As many people mentioned, leaders have courage. The unshakable attitude and belief that leaders have make them stand firm.

I’d like to add something – that “You must have Superior and Unshakeable ATTITUDE” for ourselves AS WELL AS for our team members. ANYONE can achieve greatness. It is a leader’s role to assist team members to see thier own greatness too. Personal development is certainly one of the best strategies.

Keep up the excellent work, Kenny!

PS: I love this quote that you shared – “your attitude to life is a product of your heart, if your heart stinks, your attitude stinks”. Do you know the name of the wise guy?

      Hello Viola,

I strongly agree with you just like I mentioned with Radu earlier, Our attitude is a great weapon to either attract success to us or repel success from us; it is also the only determinant that we need for our elevation in life especially as it can affect the lives of others who follow our footsteps.

Thanks for your lovely comments and kind words of support ; I really appreciate you Viola :)

PS, As for the quote, I do not know the name of the author of the quote, I heard it from a movie and it resonates in me ever since then, I can’t even remember the title of the movie itself.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

      kindest regards,
